Decor has always been interesting to me. I can remember as a kid I always looked at decor of houses and restaurants. I would even go to the bathroom to check out what they looked like too! Now, it’s a creative outlet that I have found is very important for me. I also feel that I view home decor differently than most designers. I don’t think anyone has just one design style or that you can label a person or home with one style. I feel like your home should tell your story and your family’s story, Not what the designer thinks should be in an area.
You as the one living in the space should have a huge part in the design of the home. I believe in educating the client and having them play a big part in the designing process. Most people think they can’t design a space but if you guide them, give ideas, and make them apart of the design they usually know what they want and how they want things to be. All they just need a little help to get there. Designing a home is so personal because at the end of the day it’s a reflection of you and your family!
Home Decor doesn’t have to be super expensive! Making small changes to a room you already have furniture in can make a big difference. I love how making a few changes, for example changing out a few pillows, adding a throw, some artwork, and maybe a rug, can change the whole look and feel of a room. Something as simple as paint can give a room a complete face lift. Little changes can make such a big difference and I love to see a design that I have in my head come to life in a home. Even when people kind of look at me like, Really!? When it’s all done they really love it! And that’s a great feeling!
